NAS Personal Server Plus

April 11th, 2006

This little device caught my eye when scanning through a suppliers newsletter. Just add a hard drive to it (up to 250GB) and you have a file server with all the features you need for many small business networks.

It is based on an embedded build of Linux and is administered through your web browser interface. As CIFS/SBM is supported (probably using Samba) you can use it with your Windows machines with next to no configuration.

More information is available from the Lindy web site at http://www.lindy.com/uk/productfolder/03/32/32454/index.php.

Extreme Ironing – It's the sport of the future

April 10th, 2006

In 2002 I watched and very much enjoyed a documentary on Channel 4 about extreme ironing. The is where people tried to make ironing more exciting but strapping there ironing board to there backs and heading off to somewhere a bit more extreme to undertake this otherwise mind numbingly boring task.

The reason why I mention this is that someone has just pointed me toward the Extreme Ironing Bureau web site that has may examples of how human beings cam push forward the boundaries housework and take ironing to a new level.

Chronic Myloid Leukemia

April 8th, 2006

I thought I would start my blog off by advertising a good cause on behalf of an old school friend Paul. Last year his sister was diagnosed with chronic myloid leukemia. Sadly he is not a donor match but they are looking for someone who is.

It is a lot to ask, but if you you can consider being a donor then please check out the Anthony Nolan Trust website at http://www.anthonynolan.org.uk/ for more details.

Paul is also running the London Marathon this year in support of the trust. If you want to follow his progress or could spare some cache then please check out Paul’s Just Giving web page at http://www.justgiving.com/paulwillbourne.
