Occasionally I see the odd thing that makes me chuckle. This example is when a traffic warden (or should the be traffic control officer) is parked in a place that he would have written anyone else a ticket for doing. Strangely the chap did not find the whole thing as funny as I and started calling after me for taking the photo, but I was in a hurry and couldn’t be bothered with an argument so smiled, waved and walked on.

It's official, train companies welcome trainspotters
June 21st, 2006I was looking through the National Rail website for some information and found the guidelines for rail enthusiasts. It states that all Britain’s train operating companies and Network Rail welcome rail enthusiasts to their stations.
You have been thinking I must get out more, well now is toy chance. Get down to your local railway station and start photographing those trains today. :-)
Another cactus update
May 29th, 2006Goodbye old friend
May 29th, 2006Today is a sad day for me. I will be reformatting the Windows 98 PC that I had been using at the office for the last decade. On the 1st of March it refused to boot and although I managed to get it running it is far from stable and sadly must be put down.
To be honest it was a case Trig’s of the broom and the handle as it was upgraded from 95 to 98 and had most of the hardware replaced or upgraded over the years. Reflecting on it the only original partd are the keyboard and mouse that I am using just now.
I have now gone space age and am using one of our test bed machines running the up to date Windows 2000 and am preparing myself to move to XP, just as soon as Vista is released. :-)
What it is to be feel young
May 23rd, 2006Just a quick thank you to the checkout assistant in the supermarket who refused to sell me a bottle of wine without proof of age, it made me feel young again.
Five free Stainless Steel Chef's Knives for only £9.95
May 23rd, 2006This morning we had a card through the office door saying that a delivery for us was dropped off up the road (at 8:15am). When we opened it turned out to be some cooking knives for Michel at the office.
Being a bit of a culinary expert he had ordered them as part of a Sunday Express readers offer. The postage was £9.95 and you get 5 free knives. Various other knives and accessories are available at knocked down prices.
We have not had a chance to use them properly but they do at first glace appear to be a good deal. If you would like to take advantage then go to http://www.jeanpatrique.co.uk/freeknives/esu078/ and pretend you read the Sunday Express food supplement.
Headline: Car passes MOT
May 15th, 2006Just a quick post to pass my thanks to the MOT tester who passed my car first time today. Normally this would not be that greater deal but in this case he lost money in a bet with one of his colleagues over it. Just remember that looks can deceive.
My blog is moving…
May 5th, 2006In the next few hours I will be moving my blog to my personal web site at http://blog.agm.me.uk/blog. I am continuing to use Blogger and Feedburner to manage the blog but serving the files from my web site will allow greater integration in to my forthcoming web site.
You can subscribe to the feed directly by cutting and pasting http://blog.agm.me.uk/blog/feed in to your RSS reader. This will be the last post on the old system so unless you update your bookmarks and settings you will no longer receive updates.
Just in case you were wondering AGM are my initials and a lot easier for people to type than my name.
Chronic Myloid Leukemia Update
May 2nd, 2006Some good news. I have now had word from my old school friend Paul who was running the London Marathon for the Anthony Nolan Trust (blog post) who finished in just over 5 hours. Paul’s the current total raised is about £4200.
You may be interested to know that Pauls’s sister did beat him in the marathon despite suffering leukaemia and being in hospital on a drip the week before. She has also raised over £9000.
He is now planning to do the Marathon again, but possibly missing a year. Perhaps he should consider the 2007 Great North Run that I am trying to persuade my work colleagues to enter.
