Goodbye 123 Reg

If you have read my blog for a while you will know that I have had the odd problem with 123 Reg over time.

Well, today one of the domains has been returning partial record to several ISPs (again) and email is being bounced at a time when we really could do without the hassle. I have already moved the critical domain hosting to another server, but with this continuing to happen I will be moving all of my domains and the companies domains to another supplier over the next few weeks.

  1. Found your blog by searching on “123-reg” and “groundspeak”. I have email forwarding with 123reg and I’m beginning to smell a rat. I’m pretty sure that my geocaching pocket-queries are getting lost when sent from Groundspeak to my 123reg hosted email address. As soon as I changed my email address on groundspeak to my real address, the emails started arriving. I noticed something similar with an email list I tried to sign up with a month ago ( but didn’t make the connection at the time. Trouble is, I don’t know how much other email I could be losing without knowing! Could be time to move on. Where did you move to?

  2. Initially I moved back to that I had used before as the move did not cost me, but am also looking at that was recommended and is slightly cheaper. The down side of 1 and 1 is they charge per annum and not per renewal.

I have now signed up for the Google hosted service ( ) and have configured it to forward all the email to my normal account. All spam is not forwarded but stored just in case. It requires a little more technical knowledge than using simple forwarding, but it does a far better job of filtering spam without loosing anything.

  3. Sadly, because of spam I am having to disable comments on my posts about 123-reg. If you have a comment then please use the contact me link to send it and I will post it for you.
